Messages from Alumni

Choosing to pursue the MSc in Human Resource Management at PolyU was one of the best decisions I've made. It gave me the opportunity to reflect on my previous work experience and reshape the direction of my career.

After working for several years, the timing felt right to return to study. The programme offered a valuable bridge between theory and practice, which greatly enriched my understanding of HR. Many of the challenges I’d faced in my earlier roles were clarified through lectures and personal reflection. Group projects also provided a space to discuss real-world HR challenges with classmates from a wide range of professional backgrounds. These discussions were enriched by professors who combined academic insight with practical guidance, helping us approach each topic with greater clarity and depth.

Beyond expanding my HR knowledge, the programme helped me adopt a more proactive mindset in my professional life. My year at PolyU was truly transformative—it broadened my perspective, deepened my self-awareness, and gave me fresh tools to navigate future challenges with confidence.

During my time in the MSc in Human Resource Management programme at PolyU, I've developed essential leadership and management skills, which have prepared me well for my future career. The courses combined theoretical knowledge and practical applications, including projects and case studies that brought the material to life.

The highlight of the programme was the HRM Seminars, where industry experts, professionals and HR practitioners were invited to share their insights and experiences. These sessions offered valuable opportunities for interaction and discussion, which inspired me and gave me greater confidence to pursue a career in the HR field. The skills I gained—such as strategic HR planning and talent management—are directly applicable to my work and closely aligned with my professional background. The programme also addressed current workplace challenges, including high turnover, burnout, work-life balance, and mental health. Its focus on emerging HR technologies made the content especially relevant and forward-looking.

For professionals involved in people management, I strongly recommend this programme. It has helped me grow not only as an HR practitioner but also as a leader in both my career and personal life.
