Dr Daphne Cheung is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Deakin University and an Honorary Research Fellow at Alfred Health. She is a registered nurse who has practised in both Hong Kong and Australia. She earned her PhD degree from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2012.
Dr Cheung’s research focuses on dementia care, carer support, frailty and gerontechnology. She has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, she has developed numerous innovative interventions that have created substantial impacts in the community. One of her notable achievements is the invention and patenting of the Music-with-Movement system, which has been commercialised and has benefited thousands of older adults with cognitive impairment. Her contributions to the field have been recognised through several prestigious international research awards, including the 2023 Claudia J. Beverley Innovative Award by the National Hartford Center of Gerontological Nursing Excellence; and the 2024 Innovation Award in the Customer Electronic Show.
