Students are required to fulfil the Writing (W) and Reading (R) Requirements in English
and Chinese, by taking CAR subjects approved as meeting the W and R Requirements.

BScST students will fulfil the requirements of CAR M and English Reading and Writing (ER/EW) by successfully completing the Major subject CHC134 Science and Civilisation in Pre-modern China.

Of the 9 credits of CAR described above, BScST students are required to successfully complete a minimum of 3 credits on CAR subjects designated as “China-related”. The purpose is to enable students to gain an increased understanding of China (e.g., its history, culture and society, as well as emerging issues or challenges).
