Student Message

Being a student in the Department of Land Surveying and Geospatial Science (LSGS), I have gained an unforgettable and wonderful university experience. This programme provides comprehensive knowledge and hands-on practice in different aspects, such as GIS, Surveying, and Programming. The knowledge and skills I have gained will serve as a strong foundation for my future career, whether in the public or private sector.

LSGS also provides numerous opportunities for exchange. I have participated in exchange programs in Wuhan and Japan. During the exchange, I gained exposure to different surveying techniques and pipeline management practices that differ significantly from those in Hong Kong. We also had the opportunity to visit various attractions and explore the unique culture. At the same time, studying abroad with friends is very enjoyable and memorable.

The LSGS community is incredibly supportive and friendly. Over the past few years, I have made many friends. The field of surveying requires teamwork. During my past learning sessions and group projects, I have learned about teamwork, effective communication, and leadership skills. This all has helped me grow as a more confident and well-rounded individual.

I am truly honoured and grateful to have chosen LSGS as my major. I encourage all those who have good expectations for their personal growth and university life to apply to LSGS.

My journey at the Department of Land Surveying and Geospatial Science (LSGS) has been highly rewarding. The programme offers a rigorous foundation in land surveying and geographic information systems (GIS). Through survey camps and hands-on training with instruments such as total stations, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and sound velocity profilers (SVP), I have substantially enhanced my technical proficiency and collaborative skills.

Among the most memorable experiences were a study tour to Tokyo, where I observed the practical implementation of smart city innovations, and a summer exchange programme in Wuhan, during which I participated in initiatives to promote Chibi's local green brick tea. This distinctive opportunity enabled me to integrate geospatial knowledge with cultural heritage preservation and regional development strategies.

In addition to these international exposures, LSGS provides flexible elective courses and professional accreditations from the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). I am profoundly grateful to LSGS for this transformative academic journey. For those who are passionate about land surveying and geo-informatics, joining this department offers not only technical expertise but also a broad spectrum of enriching experiences.
