Student Message

My journey in the Department of Land Surveying and Geospatial Science (LSGS) was challenging and rewarding. During the coursework, I had the opportunity to learn advanced technologies, such as UAV and LiDAR. Thanks to my secondary major in AI and Data Analytics, I was able to integrate AI with land surveying. It was great to experience how AI can help with this field.

Beyond the classroom, the intensive five-day survey camp bridged the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world practice. Collaborating closely with my peers to complete the project not only sharpened our technical, communication, and leadership skills, but also forged lifelong bonds of camaraderie among us. Moreover, the Department offered an international study tour that broadened our global horizons, allowing us to explore how innovative technologies are integrated into land surveying.

The Department also actively shares job opportunities and supports students in their career development. Through career talks, industry connections, and timely updates on internship and graduate openings, LSGS helps students better understand different career paths in the surveying and geospatial industries. My internship provided hands-on experience and deepened my understanding of the latest LiDAR technologies, allowing me to apply what I had learned in class to real-world projects.

LSGS equips students with the tools and knowledge needed to map, analyze, and shape the future of the world. Embrace your journey in LSGS, and you will graduate with a unique and invaluable skill set.

The Department of Land Surveying and Geospatial Science (LSGS) provides opportunities for anyone curious about how land surveying and geospatial technology shape our world.

Throughout my four years here, the curriculum seamlessly bridged the gap between textbook theory and practical application. From learning advanced theories in the classroom and utilizing specialized equipment during mandatory survey camps, to processing complex spatial data in computer laboratories, I was constantly challenged to solve real-world engineering and geospatial problems.

These technical skills were put to the test during the mandatory Work-Integrated Education (WIE). Entering the professional industry, I realized how up-to-date LSGS’s training is, giving me the confidence to contribute effectively during my internship. Beyond the technical expertise, my time here cultivated critical problem-solving skills and a resilient mindset.

Ultimately, LSGS has not only equipped me with advanced professional skills but also a visionary perspective on how geomatics drives smart city innovation. If you are looking for a dynamic field that combines field exploration with advanced computing and a supportive department that genuinely invests in your growth, this programme is the perfect place to start your journey.
