Multi-functional optical coherence tomography (OCT) system for corneal assessment

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive, non-contact imaging technology which is developed to obtain tissue cross-section image with high resolution. PolyU’s research team has successfully developed a cutting edge technology to combine a novel air-jet method and OCT for assessing the mechanical properties of cornea. This newly invented technology can measure corneal parameters like corneal thickness, optical index, and biomechanical parameters in a non-contact way. It has great potential for corneal assessment in ophthalmology and optometry.
