Mr. Wang is an accomplished professional, supported by more than four decades of rich and diverse experience. He has held senior positions in private and international banks. A well respected strategic thinker and planner with more than 20 years on site working experience in China. He had led his previous employer, HSBC, between 1994 and 2002, in establishing the strongest franchise among foreign banks, in terms of asset size and profitability, in the mainland of China. He continued his career in HSBC USA in promoting cross border China business between 2002 to 2004.
Against this background, Mr. Wang was invited by the China regulators to run a privately owned domestic bank, China Minsheng Bank, based in Beijing, which was fast growing with a network of more than 40 branches. One important role during his tenure between 2006 and 2009, was to introduce international management practices and establish a solid compliance infrastructure. The bank was successfully listed in Hong Kong stock exchange in 2010, after it had grown its asset base and profit by threefold over three years.
Mr. Wang in the past few years played an advisory and coaching role and acted as an independent director for banks with China business connections. He has written several books, just to name a few, 《 The art of management in China 》,《 Soft Power in Leading China business 》and 《 Hong Kong and Shanghai, HSBC stories 》. He is also an active financial commentator on TV.
