Alumni Tour to Penang

The alumni tour to Penang was so far one of the most enjoyable trip for us. We experienced some of our “first time” during the trip: joining the alumni tour; travel to Penang of Malaysia; travel along with so many new friends. We were so contented that all the itineraries; ticket, hotel, activities, meal, sight-seeing spots, timing, were being arranged perfectly which made us feeling comfortable and relaxing.

During the tour, we learned a lot about the history and culture of Penang. We visited some tangible and intangible heritage sites/activities, such as, the tricycle ride around Pitt Street of Georgetown, Fort Cornwallis, Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, etc. Besides, we enjoyed traditional Nyonya cuisine and Penang famous dishes from location restaurant and hawker centre. However, the most memorable highlight should be the fine dining night with the hotel veteran at the Macalister Mansion, in which we tasted astonishing dishes and wines, and shared our hearts under the well-decorated boutique hotel. Definitely, we cannot miss to mention the unforgettable moments at the mid-night whiskey appreciation workshop.

It’s just awesome!

As a first-timer of the alumni tour, I was amazed by everything of the tour. Undoubtedly, the flight, hotel and itineraries were world class and well appointed. What’s more, we had opportunities to meet with local hoteliers and people from travel industry and they showed us behind-the-scene and shared their inside stories! I am definitely inspired a lot and had better understanding the current happenings of Penang and Malaysia.

Along with the wonderful buddies of SHTM alumni, I gained a lot from them. And many thanks for buddies’ contribution, whiskies at night and chit chat together, it brought me to the feeling of “O Camp” in years ago which was hearty warm and feels like at home talking with bros and sis.

All in all, the SHTMAA trip was unbeatable and extraordinary. I am hoping to join the trip in next years and years.

Family Fun Day

On July 25 2015, we had a visit in Green Atrium located at Yuen Long, which is a sustainable green building together with an organic farm. When we arrived, we first went to the organic farm. The staff introduced different species of farm produce to us. After that, we had a mini workshop. We tried to put the seeds into the soil and had an unforgettable firsthand experience of farming. Then, we also went to 'Living Kitchen', a place for participants to understand more about low carbon and healthy cooking.

After that, we had a great lunch at the clubhouse of Park Signature. We had Mushroom Risotto, Pregio Tiramisu, Bruschetta with Prawn and Mango Salsa, etc. Together with organic juice from an organic market 'Farmer's Market', our lunch was delicious as well as healthy.

After lunch, we went to 'Green Planet', which is an interactive learning centre. We watched a short film there so as to know more about farming, ecology and environmental protection. It was an exciting experience because of the 5D effects.

Our visit ended at around 2p.m. Though that was a rainy day, the whole visit gave us a happy, fruitful and meaningful weekend.
