On 23 July 2016, we joined a visit to Moonzen (Door Gods) brewery, which was organized by the SHTMAA. It was an exciting tour in which we tasted craft beers. The owner couple, Michele and Laszlo, introduced on how they brewed their first drop and told us about the legend behind each label. We were also given the opportunity to visit the top-notch brewing facilities. We even had a chance to drink, not only taste, a couple of their rich and delicious products, including Thunder God Ale (Classic), Monkey King Amber Ale (Peach), Kitchen God Honey Porter (Honey), Moon Goddess Chocolate Stout (Chocolate) and many others. The SHTMAA also brought along the suitable snack that best fit with the craft beers served. We enjoyed the food and drink offered by the SHTMAA and the opportunity for us to meet with other SHTMAA members. Much to our surprise, a craft beer goblet, carrying the Moonzen design, was given to us as a souvenir.

The annual SHTMAA outing took place from 17 to 19 June 2016 in Chaoshan. We stayed in a 100-year-old, 3-storey high heritage guest home (潮州府城客棧), which was secure, yet, stylish. In this intensive 3-day heritage tour, we have been exposed to a lot of the culture of Chaoshan. Just to name a few of these exposures, we have visited the Shantou Univeristy, The Ming city wall, Guangji Bridge(湘子橋), Fenghuang Shan tea farm, and some magnificent temples. The dining experience in reputable traditional goose restaurants was also indescribable. Our tour concluded with a live-cooking 8-course luncheon at Longhu Ancient Stronghold. It was another fantastic and memorable SHTMAA annual outing revealing culture and heritage.

This was the second time that I joined SHTM alumni tour. This is always a fantastic opportunity to meet up all previous graduates from 80s. They are such great alumni to share their expertise and experience with the juniors. This time was a special experience to stay in heritage hostel in the old town. Wonderful trip, highly recommended to all new graduates for social networking.
