We are pleased to tell you that Prof. Edman Tsang and Mr Stanley Kwok are bestowed the inaugural Outstanding Alumni Awards of Faculty of Science/ School of Fashion & Textiles this year. Apart from presentation of awards during the Ceremony, the two awardees will also have dialogue sessions with students to share their success stories and experiences, discuss the opportunities and challenges in their respective disciplines.

 

 

Prof. Edman Tsang 

Outstanding Alumni Award in Scholarly Achievement of

PolyU Faculty of Science

Prof. Tsang obtained the Higher Diploma in Chemical Technology in 1987. He is currently a Professor of Inorganic Chemistry and the Head of Wolfson Catalysis Laboratory at the University of Oxford. With his world-leading expertise in materials chemistry and green catalysis, Prof. Tsang has won a number of international awards and has published more than 450 referred publications, including ScienceNature and Nature sister journals with an h-index of 75 and citations exceeding 24,500 times (Google Scholar). Also, as an alumnus of PolyU, Prof. Tsang has been proactive in working with PolyU scientists and students in related areas.

 

Mr Stanley Kwok

Outstanding Alumni Award in Entrepreneurial Achievement of

PolyU School of Fashion and Textiles

Mr Kwok obtained the Master of Arts in Fashion and Textiles (Global Fashion Management) in 2013. Mr Kwok applied the patented heat-conductive knitting technology in a variety of wearable items and created a new lifestyle brand named KnitWarm with the vision of developing smart textiles for thermal protection and pain relief to improve wearers' quality of life. In the past 3 years, KnitWarm has launched and commercialized more than 10 innovative gadgets, including Wrap, Smart KneeSleeve, HarnessWarmer, and WarmerBand. These functional wearables are well-recognized in the market and have received numerous international innovation awards.
