Prof. HUANG Jian

Programme Director of Doctor of Artificial Intelligence 
Chair Professor of Data Science and Analytics

 

Prof. Huang earned his Ph.D. degree in Statistics from the University of Washington in Seattle. His research interests include deep learning, generative models, representation learning, statistical analysis leveraging large models, and bioinformatics. He has an extensive publication record across various disciplines such as Statistics, Biostatistics, Machine Learning, Bioinformatics, and Econometrics. Prof. Huang was named a highly cited researcher in Mathematics by Clarivate (2015–2019) and ranked among the top 2% most-cited scientists globally by Elsevier BV and Stanford University (2022–2023). He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of the American Statistical Association and the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, and is an elected fellow of both the American Statistical Association and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics.

Prof. Shi was a Research Fellow at School of Computing, National University of Singapore. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from The University of Hong Kong, and obtained his B.Sc. in Computer Science from Nanjing University. He also worked as an Advisory Researcher at the Machine Intelligence Research Center of Lenovo HK. His research interests include big data analytics, databases, machine learning (especially large-scale graph algorithms, graph mining and learning), GPU parallel computing, and heterogeneous data management. Prof. Shi has published in top conferences and journals such as SIGMOD, PVLDB, NeurIPS, VLDBJ, and IEEE TKDE. He serves on program committees for conferences including IJCAI, WISE, CIKM, ASONAM, and PAKDD, and is an invited reviewer for IEEE TKDE and WWWJ.

Prof. WU Jibin

Assistant Professor

 

Prof. Wu was a research scientist at Sea AI Lab (SAIL) from 2021 to 2022 before joining PolyU. He received his Bachelor and Ph.D. degrees from the National University of Singapore in 2016 and 2020, respectively. His research focuses on brain-inspired artificial intelligence, neuromorphic computing, speech processing, and machine learning, with an emphasis on understanding brain computational principles and developing advanced cognitive machines. Prof. Wu has actively published in prestigious conferences and journals in artificial intelligence and speech processing, including NeurIPS, ICLR, AAAI, TPAMI, TNNLS, TASLP, Neurocomputing, and IEEE JSTSP. He is currently serving as the Associate Editors for IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems and IEEE Transactions on Cognitive and Developmental Systems.

YUAN Yancheng

Prof. Yuan serves as an Assistant Director of the Research Center for Intelligent Operations Research and an Associate Director of the CITIC-PolyU Interdisciplinary Mathematical Digital AI Joint Laboratory. Previously, he was a research fellow at NUS NExT Center working with Prof. Tat-Seng CHUA. Prof. Yuan received Ph.D. degree from National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2020. His research interests focus on large/huge scale sparse optimization in theory, algorithm design and software development; mathematical foundation for data science; and data-driven applications with focus on healthcare and fintech.
