Biography

 

Professor Kate Flay is the Assistant Dean of Teaching and Learning at City University of Hong Kong's Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences, and Programme Leader of the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM). CityUHK’s BVM is the first and only veterinary programme in Asia to hold dual international accreditation with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC). As a veterinary educator, Professor Flay is dedicated to advancing innovative teaching methodologies and enhancing student engagement. Her interests focus on curriculum development, assessment strategies, and the integration of technology in veterinary education, particularly with respect to clinical skills acquisition, aiming to prepare students for the evolving demands of the modern veterinary profession. As a passionate advocate for student-centered learning, Professor Flay has facilitated initiatives that foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment within the BVM programme. Her contributions to veterinary education have been recognized through various awards and publications, including receiving the CityUHK Teaching Excellence Award 2022/23 and being a finalist in the 2024 UGC Teaching Award (Collaborative Teams, Team Leader).
