Laser Machining in Product Design and Prototyping - Elementary Level

 

Laser machining is widely used in product development industry. This course is designed to teach students the basic principles of laser machining, technique of vector drawing preparation and post processing of prototype.  Upon course completion, a unique metallic phone holder is fabricated by each student based on their own design.

 

Purpose:

  • To understand the application of laser machining in product design and prototyping. 
  • To learn how to edit simple graphics and prepare vector drawing for laser machining.
  • To acquire hands-on technique in product prototyping

Assistant Engineer at the Industrial Centre (IC) of PolyU

Paddy has over 25 years’ experience in product development industry. He received the President's Awards for outstanding achievement in face shield speedy development project in 2021. He has experience in graphic editing, laser machining, prototype post processing etc. He is also the key workshop technician of Maker Lab in IC, PolyU.
