HKCSS “Youth Internship in Caring Profession for a Brighter Future” Project

Sharing by Faye Chan
Year-4 student of BSc (Hons) in PT programme

We are extremely grateful that HKCSS has provided us with a valuable opportunity which not only trained our expertise in physiotherapy, but also helped people in need tackle the difficulties they faced during the pandemic. Throughout the experience, I have learnt how to integrate my acquired knowledge and was given the opportunity to work in a setting rather different from the one I have approached during my clinical education.

I was allocated to assist Yuk Kwan Halfway House (UKHH) and have gained very worthwhile experience there. I have learnt to manage different cases and had first-hand experience of approaching mentally disabled patients. I also had to cooperate with my co-workers to manage cases. This reinforced a multi-disciplinary team approach which is a first-time experience to me as well. Thanks to HKCSS, not only does this opportunity allow us to graduate with more clinical experience, but it also fulfil our wish of helping the community as a student physiotherapist.
