Building Technology Laboratory (Energy and Materials)

Research and Consultancy
This laboratory was established in 2014 under the leadership of Prof. Ni Meng. Our research focuses on both fundamental science and engineering design of electrochemical systems for energy conversion and storage, covering mainly 3 research topics: (1) development of advanced energy materials such as perovskite oxides as electrode materials for fuel cells and batteries; (2) understanding the electrochemical/chemical processes in fuel cells and batteries as well as electrochemical systems for low-grade heat utilization for power generation; and (3) the design of fuel cells and batteries such as the electrode microstructures and stack configuration. Our research activities are supported by Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) including Collaborative Research Fund (CRF) and Theme-based Research Scheme (TRS), Innovation and Technology Fund (ITD), and the environment and Conservation Fund (ECF).
