Biography

Prof. Jiaxing Huang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Prior to that, he was a Research Scientist at the College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU). He received his Ph.D. degree from S-Lab, CCDS, NTU in 2023. He obtained Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Glasgow (Distinction First Class Honours) and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2018.

His primary research interests lie in multimodal artificial intelligence, with a long-term vision of developing intelligent multimodal systems that can perceive, understand, reason, and interact with the world, enabling them to serve as effective and efficient assistants to humans. His current research focuses on vision and multimodal foundation models, including VLMs, MLLMs, and LLMs, to build scalable, generalizable, embodied, and agentic multimodal AI systems. His work has been published in various leading artificial intelligence venues. He serves as an Area Chair for major AI conferences such as ICLR and NeurIPS, and has been recognized among the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University.
