Biography

Prof. CHEN Zhen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Prior to joining PolyU, he was a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Data Science at Yale University. He also served as an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Hong Kong Institute of Science & Innovation, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his Ph.D. degree from City University of Hong Kong in 2022, his M.Phil. degree from the University of Science and Technology of China, and his B.Eng. degree from Xi'an Jiaotong University (Automation Elite Class).

His research interests focus on the intersection of AI and Healthcare, with a vision of developing generalizable, agentic, and multimodal AI systems that can bridge fundamental AI innovation and clinical reality. His research has been published in top-tier journals and conferences, including IEEE TPAMI, TMI, MedIA, MICCAI and NeurIPS. He was the sole recipient of the Hong Kong Young Scientist Award 2023 in the engineering field, and received the MICCAI 2022 Young Scientist Award. He actively serves the academic community as an Area Chair for MICCAI and has been recognized as a Distinguished Reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging for three consecutive years.
