Welcome Message
The Research Centre for Deep Space Explorations (RCDSE) builds on our successful participation in many deep space missions both for our nation and internationally. The RCDSE assembles an interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers to search for answers to questions about the evolution of the universe and the emergence and extinction of life through research into technologies for exploration and exploitation of planetary resources. These technologies have and will provide important links to future solutions for Earth’s problems through resolving energy shortages (mining lunar 3He), mitigating climate change and the discovery of new minerals and materials for better living and immediate applications to everyday life.
The RCDSE’s initial research is based on four themes according to the team’s expertise: Planetary surface construction and geotechnical mechanics; Planetary resources and microbiology; Planetary remote sensing and mapping; and, Space environment & instrument research. We are also in the process of setting up lunar and planetary regolith sample storage and nondestructive analysis facility to welcome the Chang’e-5 lunar sample and future planetary returned samples for inter-institutional collaborative research.
Space is one of the great boundaries of human knowledge. Its further exploration welcomes a diverse team of the enterprising and the intrepid. We therefore invite researchers interested in deep space exploration from different disciplines to collaborate with us in search of new findings, new lands and new opportunities. We are looking to expand our range of collaborations to grow the research capability of the RCDSE to include all aspects of space resource exploration and exploitation beyond our initial starting themes in pursuit of both the stars and a better global living standard.
