Internship (3-6 credits) is a mandatory component of the curriculum to fulfil the Work-Integrated Education (WIE) requirement. It is “work-based learning experiences which take place in an organisational context relevant to a student’s future profession, or the development of generic skills that will be valuable in that profession”. As an essential and compulsory component in the BDSIS curriculum, WIE facilitates the integration of knowledge, skills, and competences between the classroom and the real-world, thus equipping students with valuable work experience as well as practical readiness for full-time employment upon graduation.
Students are required to obtain a “Pass” in the subject upon graduation, i.e. successfully complete at least 100 hours of placement in one organization, depending on the credits of WIE.
Students are required to take at least 6 credits of free electives. Students may wish to consider making use of the 6 credits of free electives for pursuing a Minor. The credit requirement for a Minor is 18, at least 9 credits of which should be at Level 3 or above. Subject to approval by the Minor-offering department, students may count up to 6 credits from their Major/GUR (including LCR subjects at proficient level) towards their chosen Minor.
