PolyU Orchestra Auditions 2021/22

Become a member of the PolyU Orchestra and play under the baton of Mr Leung Kin-fung, First Associate Concertmaster of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra! The PolyU Orchestra is dedicated to performing and promoting orchestral music at a high artistic level.

As a member of The PolyU Orchestra, you can:

Free membership is open to all PolyU students, staff and alumni. All musicians, particularly brass players, are welcome!

1. Auditions
Date: 8 September 2021 (Wednesday)
Time: 5-7 pm
Venue: Chiang Chen Studio Theatre, PolyU (CCST)

Requirements:
A solo composition of your own choice lasting no more than 10 minutes to demonstrate your musicality (piano accompaniment and memorization are not required)

2. Online Auditions (For those who cannot join the auditions on 8 Sep)
Pre-record a solo composition and submit it in the form below. Selected candidate will be invited to a Zoom audition on 7 September 2021.

Video Recording and Submission Guidelines:

• Record a solo composition of your own choice lasting no more than 10 minutes to demonstrate your musicality (piano accompaniment and memorization are not required)
• There should be nothing obstructing your musical instrument that we can see you play clearly
• The audio quality should be clear enough for auditions 
• Upload your continuous, unedited audition video to your preferred file-sharing platform, such as YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, OneDrive etc.
• Submit your recording link in the application form below

Tentative Programmes of PolyU Orchestra in 2021/22

• Video and audio recording of PolyU's 85th Anniversary Theme Song (Mid-Oct 2021)
• Performance at the PolyU 85th Anniversary Launch Ceremony (Nov 2021)
• Music Connects - Baroque Concertos Series (Late-Sept 2021)
• A concert by the PolyU Orchestra (Mar 2022)

Members are required to attend the weekly rehearsals on Wednesday night and dress rehearsal. Rehearsal schedule will be announced in due course.

All candidates shall follow all requirements stated at the bottom when joining the auditions.
