Biography
Xingyu Tao is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Construction Management and Intelligence (CMI) at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees from Chongqing University, where he focused on Cyber-Physical System (CPS)-based construction carbon management. Prior to joining CMI, Dr. Tao served as a Research Assistant Professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), where he earned his PhD and completed postdoctoral research. He has also been a visiting scholar at Monash University and Tsinghua University. Dr. Tao’s research centers on construction digitalization, cybersecurity-aware construction collaboration, human-robot collaboration, and embodied intelligence. His contributions have been recognized both locally and internationally, with awards including the international buildingSMART Award, the CIC Construction Digitalization Award, and the Common Data Environment Award (CDEA). Beyond academic achievements, his research has had practical impacts, including its implementation in landmark projects such as the BIM collaboration design for the Kai Tak Sports Park and the Digital Twin for the HKUST campus.
