Biography

Dr. Jie Ma is a Research Assistant Professor at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She received her MEng in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford and her PhD in Building and Real Estate from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Her interdisciplinary academic and professional background encompasses structural engineering, Building Information Modelling, wearable sensing, artificial intelligence, and construction robotics.

Dr. Ma’s research focuses on AI-enabled wearable sensing, occupational safety and health, human–robot collaboration, construction robotics, and intelligent construction technologies. By integrating biosensing technologies, artificial intelligence, and robotic systems, her work aims to enhance worker well-being, construction safety, operational efficiency, and decision-making in the built environment. Her future research will focus on next-generation wearable sensing technologies, neural-interface-enabled robotic systems, and safe, efficient, and trustworthy human–robot collaboration in complex construction environments.
