Summary

Offshore structures such as offshore wind turbines and offshore platforms are located in the harsh environment.  Environmental loadings such as wind and sea wave may result in excessive vibrations to these offshore structures. It is imperative to control the adverse vibrations of these structures.  This presentation introduces some recent developments in this area. In particular, the vibration control of offshore wind turbines, semi-submersible platforms and pipelines by respectively using tuned mass dampers, inerters and pipe-in-pipe concept will be introduced.
