Summary
Strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) structures using externally bonded (EB) fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) systems has gained widespread acceptance over the past few decades. The advantages of the EB-FRP strengthening technology lie in the corrosion immunity, high strength-to-weight ratio, and ease in installation of FRP composites. There are two major categories applications for EB-FRP systems: bond-critical applications (e.g. FRP flexural/shear strengthening) and contact-critical applications (e.g., FRP confinement). This webinar is concerned with some recent advances in the strengthening of concrete structures using EB-FRP in the above-mentioned two categories, including fiber-reinforced cementitious matrix (FRCM) systems for flexural and shear strengthening of RC beams, environmentally friendly FRPs for seismic retrofit of RC columns, durability and fire resistance performance of FRP-strengthened RC members.
