The Hong Kong Polytechnic University's Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering (AAE) is the largest department of its kind in Hong Kong and continually tops the rankings for our research expertise. 

We are at the forefront of fundamental and applied research across aeronautical engineering, aviation engineering, navigation, and transport automation with dedicated research centres.

Each year we collaborate with industry and government organisations on projects to solve the world’s most pressing challenges in aviation, airspaces, materials, and climate change. The Department includes 6 major research areas, namely Aviation Engineering, Satellite Communication and Navigation, Aerodynamics, Flight Mechanics and Control, Aerospace Structures and Materials, as well as Aerospace Propulsion and Combustion.
