Biography

David started to learn to fly in 1972 and moved to the only full time live flying school in Australia in 1973. He graduated in 1974 with a Commercial License and all ATPL subjects. He worked for numerous General Aviation jobs and ended up with twin turbine time and a Chief Flying Instructor’s Rating, and also a Chief Pilot’s Rating.

 

David joined Ansett Airlines in 1979 for 10 years, flying Fokker F27, McDonald Douglas DC9 & Boeing 727. He departed Australia in 1988 and joined Cathay Pacific (CX) flying Boeing 747-200 & -300. He then converted to flying Air Bus 330 & 340-300 and 340-600. He flew Boeing 747-400 and 747-800 in the final 10 years. He retired with 10,000 plus hours on the Boeing 747.

 

He joined CAE Hong Kong as an Instructor in January 2019. He stayed until COVID stopped all students from coming from the mainland and resigned in July 2021. He is now working at PolyU as an Instructor for the next generation of pilots.
