Summary

Abstract

With the rapid advancement of flight systems, achieving autonomous control, intelligent perception, and sustainable system design under complex and uncertain environments has become a critical scientific challenge. This seminar aims to explore the integration of adaptive robust control and artificial intelligence methods to enhance the autonomous decision-making capabilities and system stability of aerial vehicles operating in highly dynamic and constrained conditions. Meanwhile, it investigates the in-deep application of UAVs in information perception and intelligent production. Through theoretical innovation and cross-disciplinary integration, we aim to explore the integration of collaborative control, autonomous decision-making, system optimisation and low-altitude intelligent systems, thereby promoting the realisation of full-chain control from perception to action on intelligent flight platforms, and ultimately offering a new paradigm for the in-depth application of future space-air-ground integrated intelligent systems in agricultural production, infrastructure inspection, environmental monitoring and other domains.

Speaker

Dr Kang Liu received the PhD in Control Science and Engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China, in 2022. He is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. Prior to that, he was a Research Associate at the School of Computer Science, The University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. His current research focuses on integrating AI technology, intelligent control, unmanned aircraft, and autonomous robotics, with applications spanning smart agriculture, building inspection, aeronautics and astronautics, and other fields. His work emphasises both theoretical innovation and practical implementation, aiming to drive industry-wide intelligent transformation, enhance productivity, and promote sustainability. He has published over 50 academic papers, with more than 1000 SCI-indexed citations, H-index 15+, and more than 5 authorised invention patents. He actively serves as a reviewer for several leading international journals and conferences. He is a member of IEEE and IES, and serves on multiple IEEE/RAS Technical Committees such as Multi-Robot Systems, Aerial Robotics and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, and Agricultural Robotics and Automation.
