Dr Alan Wong presented a paper entitled "Ecotour Guiding in China: Implications from Literature" at the 3rd World Ecotourism Conference in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, on 3-5 October 2011. Dr Wong was appointed a Board Member of the Asia Pacific Ecotourism Society (APES).

Professor Haiyan Song was invited as keynote speaker on the topic "Tourism Trends in the Asia Pacific" at the 2011 International Conference on Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism Education Development and Trend in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, on 14-15 October 2011.

Dr Thomas Bauer was invited as panel speaker on the topics "PATA's Experience in Tourism Development and its Application in Russia and the Golden Ring Regions" and "Sustainable Tourism in Russia and the Golden Ring" at the International Tourism Forum "Visit Russia" in Yaroslavl, Russia, on 20-21 October 2011.
