Professor Kaye Chon was invited to deliver a speech on the "Future Development of Asia's Tourism and Hospitality Industry" at the Thai International Airways Conference held in Bangkok, Thailand, on 15 October 2010.

Professor Haiyan Song was invited to give a presentation on "Tourism Demand Modeling and Forecasting" at the "Tourism for Development" workshop held in Washington, USA, on 21-22 October 2010. The workshop was organised by the Strategy Development Division of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The participants were IDB project managers and senior officers of national tourism organisations from a number of countries in Latin America (via video conferencing).

Professor Kaye Chon was invited as speaker on the topic "Trends in Tourism and Implications for Indonesia's Tourism Industry" at the International Tourism Business Seminar organised by Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Republic of Indonesia, held in Jakarta on 25 October 2010.

Dr Karin Weber undertook an industry attachment in Muscat, Oman, in November 2010 with OMRAN, a fully government-owned company that develops and facilitates the construction of a host of tourist developments in Oman. Dr Weber worked closely with OMRAN's CEO, Wael Al Lawati, and Senior Project Manager, Ahmed Elhassan, advising on issues related to the development of Oman's MICE industry in general and its Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat in particular.

Dr Karin Weber presented a paper entitled "Prospects for Wine Tourism in China" at the ATLAS Annual Conference 2010 in Limassol, Cyprus, on 3-5 November 2010.

Professor Song was invited as a keynote speaker on the topic "Tourism Recovery via the Silk Road" at the 18th IPK World Travel Monitor Forum 2010 in Pisa, Italy, on 4-5 November 2010.

Dr David Jones was invited as a speaker on the topic "Do Our Assumptions on Hotel Meeting Space Apply in a Global World?" at the 2010 China Conference Economy and Conference Hotels' Development Meeting hosted by the China Tourist Hotels Association and China Association of Travel Services in Hangzhou, China, on 12-14 November 2010.

Professor Song was invited as a chair of a session on the topic "Enhancing Learning through Research" at the 1st UNWTO TedQual Annual Event for Asia and the Pacific in Wellington, New Zealand, on 18-20 November 2010.

Professor Adele Ladkin and Mr Murray Mackenzie attended the New Zealand Tourism and Hospitality Research Conference 2010 hosted by Auckland University of Technology on 24-26 November 2010. Professor Ladkin presented papers entitled "Work and Identity: A Study of Hotel General Managers in Hong Kong" and "Insights into Hospitality Leadership: A Comparison of the UK and Hong Kong". Mr Mackenzie presented a paper entitled "Leadership and Corporate Social Responsibility in the Hotel Industry in Hong Kong".
