Dr William Yu, Chief Executive Officer of World Green Organisation

Dr William Yu, Chief Executive Officer of World Green Organisation, went into the various impacts of climate change and examined how these issues pose threats to us. He presented the audience with practical experiences, insights and views.

Suggested by Dr Yu, scenarios of increasing temperature, more frequent occurrence of extreme weather events, rising sea level and worsening of ocean acidification are not remote to city dwellers. All these in fact are serious alarms on possible water and food crises around the globe which may happen in the future. There is no exception to us in Hong Kong.

Practically there is no clue to put a halt to climate change now. But there is still much we can do to help lessen its adverse impacts and to slow it down. In particular, Dr Yu suggested that we should pay more attention to building resilience to climate change and getting more prepared against climate vulnerability.
