Energy Saving Charter on “No Incandescent Light Bulbs”

Launched by the Environment Bureau and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, the Energy Saving Charter on "No Incandescent Light Bulbs (ILB)" is to encourage participating suppliers and retailers to stop replenishing stock of targeted ILB and selling the targeted ILB by the end of 2013, and encourage participating users to refrain from procuring targeted ILB for general lighting purposes and adopt more energy-efficient lighting.

PolyU Signed the Charter in 2013

PolyU has pledged to restrict the use of ILB. A variety of energy saving lighting devices have also been applied in PolyU including compact fluorescent lamps, LED lamps, T5 fluorescent tubes and induction lamps since 1993. Similar or more advanced technologies will be continued to apply on campus.
