Biography

Dr Scripter is a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Applied Social Sciences. His academic background is in the field of Philosophy, receiving his PhD in Philosophy from Emory University. His teaching and research interests include fields of ethics, aesthetics, social philosophy and the philosophy of technology. More specifically, his work has investigated what it means to lead a 'meaningful' life with special attention to the relevance of social contexts and the relation of meaning to other domains of value, e.g., moral and aesthetic. His work has appeared in Ratio, Philosophy, The Journal of Value Inquiry, Science and Engineering Ethics, International Philosophical Quarterly, and The Polish Journal of Aesthetics. Before joining PolyU, he previously taught at Hong Kong Baptist University, College of International Education (2014-16) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (2016-2023), where he received The Presidential Exemplary Teaching Award for 2018-19.
