PolyU honours seven outstanding graduates at gala ceremony

PolyU presented its 8th "Outstanding Alumni Award" to 7 distinguished alumni on
19 April to pay tribute to their remarkable professional achievements and contributions to their alma mater and the community. 
The awards were presented by the Guest of Honour The Honourable Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, HKSAR, at a ceremony.

Hotel ICON to be opened by phases in the second quarter

School of Hotel and Tourism Management has recently moved into its new premises in Tsim Sha Tsui East and revamped more than 30 subjects within its undergraduate curriculum to tie in with the soft opening of its teaching and research hotel (Hotel ICON) by phases in this year¡¦s second quarter.  More>>

PolyU alumna Vivienne Tam named Leader of the Year
¡@

PolyU warmly congratulates its alumna Ms Vivienne Tam for being honoured by Sing Tao News Corporation as the 2010 Leader of the Year in the Commerce and Industry/Finance category.  Ms Tam is a graduate from the then Hong Kong Polytechnic in 1978 with a Higher Diploma in Design.  She is Adjunct Professor of PolyU's Institute of Textiles and Clothing and was honoured with the Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award in 1997.  More>>

Graduate School of Business leaps up world research rankings

The Graduate School of Business is ranked 61st in the world, 3rd in Asia and 2nd in Hong Kong according to the latest University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) Top 100 World Rankings of Business Schools 2006-2010.  It has climbed nine places from its 70th position in the previous 2005-2009 rankings.  The league table is compiled on the basis of research contributions to 24 leading business journals during the period.  More>>

PolyU scientists honoured with Natural Science Award for research in ultra-precision machining technology

The Ministry of Education of China announced the results of its Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards 2010 on 1 March. Two PolyU scientists from the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering were honoured with the Natural Science Award (Second Class) for their research in modeling and characterization of nano-surface generation in ultra-precision machining. They were Principal Investigator Dr Benny C.F. Cheung and Co-investigator Prof. W.B. Lee.  More>>

PolyU hosted the 5th International Functional Food Symposium themed on "Promoting Good Health and Developing a Sustainable Environment"on its campus.  The two-day event brought together about 400 participants from 8 countries and territories to present the latest research findings related to traditional Chinese medicine and foods and also on water and environment.  More>>
