Instant Vision Assessment Device for Measuring Refraction in Low Vision
Refraction is an essential part of eye care, especially among individuals with low vision. It determines the refractive error of an eye and relevant corrections by optical devices needed to achieve optimal visual acuity.
According to the World Health Organization, a person with low vision has limited visual acuity in terms of light perception and a narrowed visual field from the point of fixation. Nonetheless, they are able to exercise their vision in planning or executing tasks.
The Instant Vision Assessment Device is a stenopaeic slit refraction system in a binocular telescopic optometer calibrated to measure refraction for low-vision patients. The stenopaeic slit helps determine the extent of astigmatism when vision is poor.
