The University Research Facility in Life Sciences (ULS) is co-organizing a seminar on Spinning Disk Widefield/Confocal Microscope with Leica. This seminar will be focused on the new Thunder Spinning Disk Microscope which allows showcase its imaging capabilities and explore its potential applications in the current research workflows.
The details of the upcoming seminar are as follow:
Title: Introducing the New THUNDER Imager Cell Spinning Disk from Leica
Date: 5 Sep 2025 (Friday)
Time: 2:30 – 3:00 pm
Speaker: Mr. Bob Tang, Application Specialist, Leica Microsystems
Webminar URL: https://polyu.hk/pmTYP (Microsoft Teams)
Meeting ID: 238 147 933 985 7

Brief introduction: Leica Thunder Spinning Disk Microscope is a confocal system with ultra-fast speed, low phototoxicity and the traditional pinhole crosstalk issue is resolved by Thunder technology.
Recommended Applications of Spinning Disk Microscope:
• Capture fast events such as calcium signalling (e.g., Fura-4F, GCaMP) and vesicle/RNA transport
• Perform 3D confocal imaging of organoids, 3D tissue slide imaging, and long-term time-lapse studies
