Summary

You are cordially invited to attend the University Research Facility in Big Data Analytics (UBDA) training course to be held on 20 October 2025. UBDA is the first university-level research facility in Big Data Analytics in Hong Kong for cross-disciplinary research collaborations, teaching, and learning, as well as a partnership with industry.
This two-session training course designed to enhance research efficiency on the UBDA platform. Session 1 focuses on parallel computing, teaching you to effectively utilize GPU and multi-processing resources using NVIDIA RAPIDS suite (e,g. cuDF, cuPy, cuML) for accelerated workflows. Session 2 covers finding data sources, performing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), and using synthetic data tools like SDV and Mostly AI. Both sessions include practical Python exercises in Google Colaboratory and demonstrations of the UBDA system; basic Python knowledge is required.
