This practical workshop equips secondary students with core sewing skills by guiding them in creating a functional drawstring bag. Participants will learn to measure, cut fabric, operate a sewing machine, and construct a secure channel for the drawstring. The session focuses on developing precision, patience, and the satisfaction of making a durable, personalized item from scratch. All materials are provided. Students will leave with a completed bag, newfound practical abilities, and the confidence to pursue future creative projects.
Workshop 2: Summer Fashion Photography Workshop
Join us for an exciting one-day Workshop with a fashion twist, designed specifically for Secondary School Yr 4 and Yr 5 students. This immersive workshop will inspire young creatives to explore the art of photography while developing essential technical skills, all through the lens of fashion.
The workshop will kick-off with an engaging introduction to photography, where students will learn about its history, various genres, and the dynamic world of fashion photography. Participants will then dive into the fundamentals of camera operation, covering settings, composition, and lighting techniques that are essential for capturing stunning fashion images.
A hands-on practical shooting session will allow students to apply what they’ve learned, encouraging them to creatively explore their surroundings with a focus on style, trends, and personal expression. Guided exercises will help them experiment with photographing fashion-inspired subjects, from clothing and accessories to portraiture and street style, fostering their artistic vision and understanding of visual storytelling in fashion.
Students will present their favourite fashion photographs, providing a platform for feedback and constructive critique from peers. This encourages a supportive community atmosphere, vital for creative growth in both photography and fashion.
