Sustainable Urban Development

This subject is entitled “Sustainable Urban Development”, a subset of existing subject “Construction and Environmental Professionals in Society CE1001” specially devised for all first-year students enrolled in the Faculty of Construction and Environment. It focuses on integrating students into the professional and ethical dimensions of the construction and environmental fields.
This subject aims to introduce students to the construction and environmental industries, emphasising novel technologies, sustainability, energy efficiency, carbon neutrality, smart city, and digital twins, etc. It also focus on engaging students with current industry development and preparing them for future careers through professional insights, networking, and exposure to real-world practices.

Upon completion of the subject, students will be able to:

  • Describe how the construction and environmental industries contribute to meeting community and global needs.
  • Recognise key skills and attitudes that support success in these industries.
  • Explore personal interests, potential university major choices or career possibilities within the construction and environmental fields.
