Andy H.W. Fung, PhD, RSW, is a Research Assistant Professor at the School of Nursing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Andy Fung received training in social work and psychology. His research focuses on trauma, dissociation, mental health, and psychosocial care. Andy Fung is a highly active scholar in the field of pathological dissociation and dissociative disorders. According to Scopus data, he is the most prolific author worldwide on dissociative disorders in the past decade (2016 to 2025), and ranks among the top 10 most published authors historically in this specialized area. He has published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals, including Child Abuse & Neglect, American Psychologist, European Journal of Psychotraumatology, Asian Journal of Psychiatry, and Journal of Psychiatric Research. He published the self-help book, "Be a teammate with yourself: Understanding trauma and dissociation", which has been utilized in several clinical trials. Before joining the School of Nursing, Andy Fung obtained the RGC Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme. His trauma-informed, dissociation-specific online psychoeducation program is one of only two interventions worldwide supported by randomized controlled trials for pathological dissociation. He is dedicated to improving the understanding, assessment, prevention, and treatment of mental health problems, with a specific focus on trauma-related conditions, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex dissociative disorders.
