Dr Justina LIU and Dr Daphne CHEUNG received Smart Ageing Awards from the Golden Age Foundation

Dr Justina LIU and Dr Daphne CHEUNG (Associate Professors) received Smart Ageing Awards from the Golden Age Foundation in recognition of the impacts of their innovative products.

Dr LIU’s team* received the Silver Prize in the Smart Ageing Award for their invention, Immersive Virtual-Reality DualTask Training System (Hong Kong Shortterm Patent no. 32023070917.4), the aim of which is to simultaneously provide motor and cognitive training to older adults with cognitive frailty to improve their health and well-being. The system was developed in collaboration with Pok Oi Hospital.

Dr CHEUNG’s team** received the Merit Prize for their Music-with-Movement System (HK Short-term patent no. 32023075903.9), developed to improve the cognitive and psychosocial well-being of older adults with cognitive impairment.

The Golden Age Foundation is a charitable organisation that aims to address issues of ageing through innovation and by empowering golden agers to become the next driving force of our society.

* The co-investigators were Prof. Rick KWAN (Associate Dean [Programmes] and Professor, School of Nursing, Tung Wah College), Prof. Kenneth FONG (Professor, Department of Rehabilitation Sciences), Dr Justina LIU (Associate Professor), Prof. Harry QIN (Professor), and Dr Claudia LAI (Honorary Professor).
