Building Bridges Between Students and Hoteliers on Rosewood Day
On 16 April 2026, the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) and Rosewood Hong Kong once again joined forces to host Rosewood Day, reinforcing their shared commitment to linking academic learning with industry practice.

This event opened with inspiring welcome remarks by Prof. Kaye Chon, SHTM Dean, Chair Professor and Walter and Wendy Kwok Family Foundation Professor in International Hospitality Management, and Mr Juan Serrano, Hotel Manager of Rosewood Hong Kong. Both speakers highlighted the importance of close collaboration between academia and industry in nurturing future hospitality leaders.

These remarks were followed by a dynamic panel discussion moderated by SHTM Research Assistant Professors Dr Emily Chen and Dr Roshis Shrestha. The panel featured senior executives from Rosewood Hong Kong, including Mr Serrano; Ms Olena Pavlyshyn, Hotel Manager of K11 ARTUS; Ms Crystal Tang, Complex Director of Finance Business Partner; Ms Melody Liu, Complex Director of Talent & Culture; and Mr Anthony Yoo, Assistant Guest Service Manager. The panellists drew on their extensive professional experience to share valuable insights into industry trends, career development and leadership in hospitality. Students also had an opportunity to engage directly with the speakers during the networking session, which supported their professional growth.

The Rosewood Day Challenge, centred around the theme of "Redefining HR Excellence: Creating a Future Proof HR App to Enhance Efficiency", was a highlight of the event. A team of outstanding SHTM students comprising Bernice Yeung, Hoi Kiu Wong and Tanja Poon of the BSc in Hotel Management programme, under the mentorship of Dr Emily Chen, were named the winners for their innovative concept and practical recommendations. The team were presented with certificates and prizes by Dean Chon and Mr Serrano. Two finalist teams were also recognised and awarded certificates and prizes by Prof. Catherine Cheung, SHTM Associate Dean and Associate Professor, and Ms Pavlyshyn.

SHTM extends its sincere appreciation to Rosewood Hong Kong for its continued support and dedication to developing the next generation of hospitality professionals, as well as its valuable contributions to industry advancement.
