Prof Maxime Wang presented a co-authored paper entitled "Speaking More, Offering Less: The Impact of Voice Solicitation on Voice Quantity and Quality" at the 85th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management in Copenhagen, Denmark on 25-29 July 2025.
Prof Janelle Chan presented a paper entitled "Boosting Destination Appeal with AI-Generated Images: A Sensorydriven Strategy for Sustainable Gastronomy Tourism" at the 11th International Conference on Hospitality and Tourism Management in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 25-26 July 2025.
Dean Kaye Chon, Prof Catherine Cheung, Prof Ada Lo, Prof Nan Chen, Prof Antony Wong, Dr Emily Chen, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed and Dr Roshis Shrestha attended the Nepal Tourism Promotion Seminar 2025 hosted by the Consulate-General of Nepal in Hong Kong on 15 July. Dean Kaye Chon was the key speaker at the event. Prof Catherine Cheung, Prof Ada Lo and Dr Roshis Shrestha participated in the panel discussion on "Harmonising Nepal tourism products to Hong Kong tourists' priorities".
Prof Haiyan Song presented a co-authored paper entitled "The Impact of Climate Change on Pinot Noir and Identity - A Narrative Literature Review" at the Pinot Noir and Identity Symposium held at St Cross College, the University of Oxford in UK, on 10-12 July 2025.
Dean Kaye Chon, Prof Lisa Gao, Prof Michael Lin and Prof Jinah Park attended the 30th APTA Annual Conference in Busan, Korea on 7-9 July 2025. Prof Lisa Gao and Prof Jinah Park presented a co-authored paper entitled "The Role of Virtual Tours in Enhancing Hotel Sustainability Engagement: Moderating Effects of ESG Awareness". Prof Michael Lin presented two co-authored papers entitled "Exploring the Adoption of Food Waste Sustainability Oriented Innovation (SOIs) in Small Restaurants" and "Enhancing Strategic Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Decisions for Small and Medium-Sized Restaurants: A Synergy Effect with Non-Governmental Organisations".
Dr Ada Fong presented a paper entitled "The Impact of Public Parks on Park Users' Quality of Life in Hong Kong" at the 16th International Conference on Sport and Society in Melbourne, Australia on 2-4 July 2025.
The SHTM's Food and Wine Academy organised a workshop entitled "California Wine Discovery with Anty Fung" on 2 July 2025. During the workshop, Ms Anty Fung, Certified Wine Specialist, judge, educator and speaker, guided a tasting of wines from iconic areas across California, along with cheese pairing tips.
Prof Haiyan Song, Prof Mimi Li, Dr Meli Darvish, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed and Ms Tak Kanchanawat attended the 12th Advances in Hospitality and Tourism Marketing and Management in Faro, Portugal on 30 June - 4 July 2025. Dr Meli Darvish presented a paper entitled "A Comparative Study of Job Insecurity: Who Suffers More?". Dr Ibrahim Mohammed presented a paper entitled "Integrating Explainable Artificial Intelligence into Hotel Revenue Management Systems". Ms Tak Kanchanawat presented a co-authored paper entitled "Gastronomic Adventures: An Auto-Ethnography of Memorable Gastronomy Tourism in North-Eastern Thailand".
Prof Huihui Zhang and Dr Hanyuan Zhang attended the 45th International Symposium on Forecasting in Beijing, China on 29 June - 2 July 2025. Prof Huihui Zhang presented a paper entitled "Destination-Specific Interpretable Learner (DSIL): A Novel Approach for Efficient and Interpretable Tourism Demand Forecasting in the Post-COVID Era". Dr Hanyuan Zhang presented a paper entitled "Recovery of the Chinese Outbound Travel Market from the Pandemic".
Prof Jinah Park attended the International Conference on Cultural Tourism, Museum and Heritage Studies in Osaka, Japan on 28-29 June 2025.
Prof Neil Li and Ph.D. student Haipeng Ji attended the 18th China Summer Workshop on Information Management in Xian, China on 28-29 June 2025. They presented their co-authored paper entitled "Hotel Pictorial Strategies in Response to the Home Sharing Disruption: A Quasi-Experimental Design". Prof Neil Li also presented a co-authored paper entitled "IMIFN: An Indicator-Based Multimodal Interactive Fusion Network for Multimodal Sentiment Analysis".
Dr Irene Zhang attended the Digital and Intelligent Governance and New Cultural Tourism Consumption Conference in Changsha, China on 27-28 June 2025.
Prof Haiyan Song, Prof Richard Qiu, Dr Ming Deng, Dr Curley Liu and Ms Regina Wang attended the ICOT2025 Annual Conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia on 25-28 June. Prof Haiyan Song delivered a keynote speech on "AI and Tourism Research". Prof Richard Qiu presented a co-authored paper entitled "Tourism Market Segment Formation Through Individual Social Interactions: A Discrete Choice Perspective". Dr Ming Deng and Ms Regina Wang presented a co-authored poster entitled "Enhancing Pro-Environmental Behaviour in Hotels: A Digital Intervention Approach Using Travel Live Streaming". Dr Curley Liu presented a co-authored paper entitled "Optimising Robotics Technology in Productivity Enhancement for the Hotel Industry".
Prof Seunghun Shin presented a paper entitled "Exploring Mixed Methods: Case Studies and Practical Tips" at the 98th TOSOK Gyeongbuk·Gyeongju International Tourism Conference and 2025 APEC International Tourism Conference in Gyeongju, Korea on 24-26 June.
Prof Sabrina Huang presented a co-authored paper entitled "Flexible Work Arrangements in Hotels" at the 55th TTRA Annual International Conference in Galway, Ireland on 24-26 June 2025.
Dr Irene Zhang attended the 2025 Annual Conference and Academic Symposium of the Tourism Management Committee, China Management Science Society in Yibin, Sichuan, China on 20-22 June.
Prof Antony Wong presented a co-authored paper entitled "A SOGIE-Based LGBTQ+-Friendly Destination Image Scale: Development and Validation" and moderated an Inclusive Service Design Workshop "Unlearning the Normative Servicescapes through a Critical Queer Theory" at the ISA RC50 Interim Conference 2025 in Fujisawa, Japan on 19-22 June.
Prof Gianluca Goffi presented a co-authored paper entitled "The Role of Destination Management in Enhancing Competitiveness: Insights from Developing Countries" at the ATLAS Annual Conference 2025 in Vila-Seca, Spain on 17-20 June.
Dr Yvonne Yang presented a co-authored paper entitled "An Iron Fist in a Velvet Glove: How Influencers Can Enhance Audience Engagement by Developing Cross-Categorization Self-Branding" at the 2025 ICHRIE Global Conference together with HITEC® Indianapolis 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA on 16-20 June.
Prof Catherine Cheung presented a co-authored paper entitled "Empathy through Gen AI: Implications for the Education of Human Centered Professionals" at the EDEN 2025 Annual Conference in Bologna, Italy on 15-17 June.
Prof Gianluca Goffi attended the Sinergie-SIMA 2025 Management Conference in Genova, Italy on 12-13 June 2025.
Prof Gianluca Goffi delivered a talk entitled "With a Focus on the Economic Development of Senigallia" at the CNA Senigallia Elective Assembly 2025 in Senigallia, Italy on 10 June.
Dean Kaye Chon delivered an academic keynote speech at the 10th Annual Tourism Education Student Summit in Macau on 10 June 2025.
Prof Sam Kim delivered two lectures on "Mental Health and Well-Being in Tourism" and "Impacts of Cutting-Edge Technologies in Customers' Reactions" to students majoring in Psychology at Rikkyo University in Japan during his tenure as Invited Visiting Scholar there from 2 to 21 June 2025. He also conducted a seminar entitled "Enhancement of Research Competency" for professors and researchers at the University specialising in Tourism.
