The SHTM and the Research Centre for Digital Transformation of Tourism are organising the IMPACT2025 conference in collaboration with the Co-Star SHARE Centre. The conference will be held in Hong Kong between 7 and 9 December 2025.
Currently, the hospitality and tourism industries are undergoing transformation both digitally and in business operations. Embracing these changes, IMPACT2025 will address the theme of "Transforming Hospitality and Tourism for a Sustainable Future", with the aim of serving as a platform for industry executives, government officials and academics to discuss transformational trends and insights, share research findings and practices and explore creative pathways and develop strategies to capitalise on this transformation in the areas of evidence-based education, research and industry practice. The conference has the following objectives:
- To explore how industries are transforming in the age of digitalisation
- To integrate sustainability into digital transformation strategies
- To promote sustainable practices in resource management
- To nurture communities of learning and practice in response to industries' digital transformation
- To suggest transformative ways to manage tourism and hospitality businesses in the context of changes in macro- and micro-environments
- To discuss and suggest transformative education in tourism and hospitality
To achieve these objectives, IMPACT2025 invites the submission of papers on topics related but not limited to the following:

Submission Formats and Presentation Preferences
Submissions should be prepared in APA format under one of two categories:
- Extended Abstract: 800 (±100) words, including the title, abstract, keywords, main body and references, or
- Full Paper: 4,000 (±500) words, including the title, abstract, keywords, main body, references and, where applicable, figures and tables.
Presentations can be in the form of 1) stand-up oral presentations or 2) poster presentations.
Abstracts/papers in Chinese will also be considered for presentation at the conference.

Presenters and Participants
IMPACT2025 aims to bring together academics, industry practitioners and policymakers, as well as consultants, entrepreneurs and representatives from hospitality and tourism organisations.
Registration
Accepted authors (or at least one co-author of an accepted paper) should register for the conference to present their research. An early-bird registration fee of HK$4,000 (regular participant) or HK$3,000 (full-time student) will be available up to 15 November 2025. Thereafter, all participants will be charged a standard registration fee of HK$5,000 (regular participant) or HK$4,000 (full-time student).
Awards
The
IMPACT2025 Best Paper Awards: Three best papers will be awarded by the Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research, Journal of China Tourism Research and Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing. The authors of the awarded papers will be invited to fully develop their work and to submit it to the three sponsoring journals to be considered for publication.
