Dr Fred Mayo visited the School again on 9-12 July this year to deliver a Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) Workshop on behalf of the SHTM and the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute.
The professional development workshop attracted 20 participants who had the opportunity to network with other educators as they practised the latest teaching principles and skills that offer the best educational experience for hospitality
students.
Every hospitality educator can benefit from the CHE Workshop curriculum, but its focus on interactive teaching skills is especially useful for instructors with strong industry backgrounds.
After completing the CHE requirements this year, the participants were able to sit an examination on the final day to earn certification from the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute. The highly coveted Certified Hospitality Educator designation, recognising individuals
with the qualities needed to become effective hospitality educators, is prized worldwide because it helps to build reputations for classroom excellence.
The SHTM is proud to have offered CHE workshops since 2003 in association with the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute.
