ACHIEVEMENTS AND RECOGNITION
Ms Clare Fung received the "The Goodfellow Publishers Early Career Researcher Award" at the 27th Council for Hospitality Management Education Annual Research Conference in Bournemouth, UK on 22-25 May 2018.
Professor Rob Law was selected by the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research as the JHTR Absolute Best Reviewer in recognition of his outstanding contributions. The award was presented at the 16th Asia-Pacific CHRIE Conference in Guangzhou, China, which was held from 31 May to 2 June 2018.
Ph.D. graduate Dr Jacey Choe and Ms Munhyang (Moon) Oh, a research student in the Ph.D. in Hotel and Tourism Management programme, received the Best Paper Award for their co-authored paper entitled "Understanding Food Tourist's Hierarchical Consumption Value Map" at the 8th International Conference on Tourism in Kavala, Greece on 27-30 June 2018.
Dr Catherine Cheung won Best Paper Award (Bronze) for her co-authored paper entitled "Towards and Understanding of Cultural Intelligent Behavior of Hotel Service Employees" at the 2018 Pan Asia International Tourism Conference in Seoul, Korea on 4-5 July.
SHTM staff members had considerable success in obtaining major publicly funded competitive research grants this year. The General Research Fund of the Research Grants Council (RGC) will provide funding for Professor Cathy Hsu's project entitled "A Longitudinal Study of Tourists' Emotional Experience: Examining the Underlying Emotion Generative and Regulatory Processes", Dr Dan Wang's project, "Conceptualizing In-Destination Decision Making By Tourists" and Dr Pearl Lin's project, "Under the Sharing Economy, What Does Social Dining Mean For Hong Kong?" The RGC's Early Career Scheme will fund Dr Chloe Lau's project entitled "Professionalism Measurement of Business Event Planners" and Dr Ksenia Kirillova's project "Aesthetic Experiences in Tourism: Tourists, Residents, and Destination Aesthetic Features".
Ms Soey Lei, a research student in the Ph.D. in Hotel and Tourism Management programme, won the Premier Award of Best Conference Paper based on her co-authored paper entitled "Engaging Customers for Value Co-creation through Mobile Instant Messaging" at the 2018 Global Marketing Conference in Tokyo, Japan on 26-29 July.
