The Honourable Sir Michael Kadoorie Bestowed
SHTM Lifetime Achievement Award

The Honourable Sir Michael Kadoorie, GBS, L.L.D.(Hons), DSc(Hons), Commandeur de la Légion D'Honneur, Commandeur de L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Commandeur de L'Ordre de la Couronne, Commandeur de L'Ordre de Léopold II, was this year's recipient of the SHTM Lifetime Achievement Award, which was presented to him at a ceremony held in his honour at Hotel ICON on 22 September 2017.

The SHTM Lifetime Achievement Award honours outstanding personalities who have contributed substantially to the development of hospitality and tourism in Hong Kong, the region and around the world. The award recognises leaders who help define the global hospitality landscape and advance the industry. The inaugural award went to Mr Adrian Zecha, founder of Aman Resorts, last year. Read more

Professor Haiyan Song Conferred Endowed Professorship

Endowed by the Victoria Park Hotels Limited, Professor Haiyan Song, SHTM Associate Dean, was conferred the title Mr and Mrs Chan Chak Fu Professor in International Tourism at the Third Inauguration of Endowed Professorships held at the University on 5 September 2017. Read more

Kwok Hospitality Awards Established at SHTM

The SHTM is pleased to have received support from the Kwok Scholars Association (KSA) for the establishment of the Kwok Hospitality Award. Read more

SHTM Received Donation from Zhejiang Drore Technology to Advance Hospitality and Tourism Education

The SHTM received a donation of HK$1.08 million from Zhejiang Drore Technology Co Ltd (Drore) to establish the "Drore Scholarship" in support of the School's efforts to advance hospitality and tourism education. Read more

SHTM to Host 2017 Hong Kong PolyU Winter School®

The Hong Kong PolyU Winter School®, the SHTM's flagship Executive Development Programme, is staged each year to allow senior industry executives to interact with leading educators and practitioners in the field of hospitality. Co-organised by the SHTM, the Hong Kong Hotels Association and Institute for Entrepreneurship at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the programme will be held on the School's premises from 4 to 16 December 2017. ACHIEVEMENTS AND RECOGNITION

Led by their instructor Dr Chloe Lau, a team of four SHTM students from the BSc(Hons) in Hotel Management programme - Miss Ahn Seo-won, Heather, Miss Chow Chi-lok, Charlotte, Mr Li Chun-bong, Martin and Miss Nam Kyung-min, Hazel - won the 2nd runner-up prize and Most Knowledgeable Award at the Asian Federation of Exhibition and Convention Associations Asia MICE Youth Challenge 2017 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on 6 September 2017. CONFERENCES/SEMINARS/
WORKSHOPS

Professor Kaye Chon led a residential workshop for the course "Asian Paradigm in Hospitality Management" of the Doctor of Hotel and Tourism Management programme. The workshop was held in Bangkok, Thailand on 9-13 August 2017 and attended by 19 D.HTM students. Read more
