Professor Brian King presented a paper entitled "Events and Festivities - Providing Rewarding Urban Experiences for Tourists and Residents" at the Global Tourism Cities Conference 2013 in Sarawak, Malaysia on 2-3 July 2013.
Professor Kaye Chon attended the 2013 Asia Hotel Forum International Hotel Investment Summit in Beijing, China on 4-6 September 2013. He also attended the 10th China Hotel Enterprise Development Summit and the 7th International Forum on China Hotel Brand Development in Guangzhou, China on 9-11 September 2013.
Professor Chon attended the World Travel and Tourism Council Asia Summit in Seoul, Korea on 10-11 September 2013.
Professor Bob McKercher delivered a seminar on "Risk Management" to 70 members of the Federation of Hong Kong Hotel Owners on 13 September 2013.
Professor Kaye Chon and Dr Markus Schuckert attended the PATA Youth Symposia in Chengdu, China on 13 September 2013. Professor Chon delivered the opening remarks and an invited speech on "Preparing Yourself for a Successful Career in Tourism and Hospitality". Dr Schuckert delivered an invited speech on "Development and Dynamics in the Asian Aviation Markets - How this Boosts Your Career in Transport and Tourism".
Professor Chon spoke in the panel on "Innovations and Entrepreneurship" at the Global Tourism Economy Forum in Macau on 17-19 September 2013.

Dr Honggen Xiao attended the 8th Biennial International China Tourism Conference in Xinjiang, China on 20-22 September 2013.
Dr Tony Tse chaired a panel discussion on tourism at the Hong Kong-Taiwan Economic and Trade Forum 2013 - Cross-Straits Four-Regions Tourism Industry Summit in Hong Kong on 24 September 2013.
Professor Cathy Hsu and Dr Karin Weber attended the 22nd Nordic Symposium in Tourism and Hospitality Research in Norway on 24-27 September 2013. They co-presented a paper entitled "Examining Effects of Acculturation on Service Failure Responses: Insights from Australian-Chinese Consumers". Professor Hsu and Dr Andrew Chan also co-presented a paper entitled "Tour Service Performance, Tourist Satisfaction, and Behavioral Intention".
Dr Alan Wong attended the Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Conference in Nairobi, Kenya on 24-27 September 2013.
Professor Kaye Chon delivered a speech entitled "The Emerging Asian Service Models - What are the Asian Services Styles and Will Asian Services Models Become the Future World Standards?" at the 2013 Global Conference of the Service Industry in Taiwan on 29 September 2013.
Professor Chon delivered two speeches on "Innovations in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry" and "Leadership Development for the Hospitality and Tourism Industry" at the Hospitality and Tourism Seminars, Southern Institute of Technology in New Zealand on 10-11 October 2013.
Professor Chon gave a special lecture on "Leadership in Service Quality" to SK Networks Co., Ltd. Walkerhill in Seoul, Korea on 14 October 2013. A Letter of Understanding was also signed to foster collaboration in developing and delivering continuing education and industry support programmes in the next few years.
Professor Chon delivered a speech on "Developing Leadership for Hospitality and Tourism Industry in China" at the Annual Conference of Tourism Tribune 2013 in Chongqing, China on 17-19 October 2013.
Professor Kaye Chon, Professor Haiyan Song, Dr Sam Kim, Dr Honggen Xiao, Dr Ada Lo, Dr Yong Chen and Mr Denis Tolkach attended the 7th UNWTO/PATA Forum on Tourism Trends and Outlook in Guilin, China on 21-23 October 2013. Professor Chon delivered an invited keynote speech on "Innovations and Entrepreneurship in Hospitality and Tourism". Professor Song was invited to be a keynote speaker on the topic "PATA 2013-17 Visitor Forecasts: Methodology and Results", and moderated a keynote session entitled "Tourism Development: New Knowledge, Practices and Challenges". Dr Kim moderated a session entitled "New Practices and New Development". Dr Xiao moderated a session entitled "Tourism Research in Support of Policy, Development and Industry Practices".
Dr Tony Tse and Dr Honggen Xiao attended the Celebrating and Enhancing the Tourism Knowledge-based Platform: A Tribute to Jafar Jafari in Palma de Mallorca, Spain on 23-25 October 2013. Dr Xiao was a speaker at the panel delivering a speech on "Going beyond the Knowledge-based Platform?" whilst Dr Tse presented a paper entitled "Developing a Hotel & Tourism Management School: at the Right Time, in the Right Place, with the Right People".
