ACHIEVEMENTS AND RECOGNITION
Professor Kaye Chon was honoured with the 2013 Michael D. Olsen Outstanding Alumnus Award from the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University for his outstanding achievements and contributions to hospitality education, research and practice. The award was conferred on 21 March.

Dr Dan Wang was shortlisted for a Best Conference Full Paper for her paper entitled “Transforming the Travel Experience: The Use of Smartphones for Travel” at the 20th International Conference on Information Technology and Travel and Tourism ENTER 2013 in Innsbruck, Austria on 22 - 25 January 2013.

Dr Hanqin Zhang-Qiu was invited to serve on the Education Committee of the UNESCO Hong Kong Association as an expert on tourism education. Dr Zhang-Qiu will also serve as a mentor to secondary school students, helping them to develop their understanding of, and build a career in, the tourism industry.
Dr Cindy Heo received the Best Paper Award from the European Journal of Tourism, Hospitality and Recreation for her paper entitled “What does UNESCO's World Heritage List Mean for Tourism? The Endorsement Effects of UNESCO’s World Heritage Designation on Tourists’ Pro-Environmental Behaviour” in December 2012.
