Summary

Fashion Design (ITC2205D), Textile Design (ITC4503D) and Advanced Apparel Pattern (ITC3008T) are core subjects for fashion design students in the School of Fashion and Textiles. One of the important learning components of these subjects is to impart knowledge and skills in combining aesthetics and technology. Therefore, advanced technologies and techniques like digital transfer printing, digital laser engraving, 2D and 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) in fashion design, diverse aesthetics, design thinking skills, and apparel pattern cutting are taught to facilitate students’ fashion and textile design process and creation. The assignments provide students opportunities to act as practitioners in practical design, which is an effective method to involve students in research creative ideation, systematic experiments, and critical thinking, so as to improve their fashion and textile techniques.

Seventy-one outstanding students who took these subjects in 2021/22 were selected to exhibit their works. This exhibition not only celebrates their diligence and creativity but also demonstrates how they integrated aesthetics and technologies to express their inner worlds and pursue beauty in the outer world. Having witnessed the students’ talents, potential, and substantial improvements through the practitioner-research learning and teaching approach, we are certain that they will flourish in the future. Congratulations to all the young talents!
