Cady Lee, Toki Wong and Topsy Yu bagged all awards at the Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest 2021

Our graduating student Cady Lee; and our alumni Toki Wong (BA, 2015) and Topsy Yu (BA, 2020) bagged four awards with their creativity at the Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest 2021, one of the most prestigious events of its kind in the region.

II. STAFF ACHIEVEMENTS

Prof. Wei Chen and colleagues publish in highly impactful journal

Prof. Wei Chen and his team published an article titled “Flexible stimuli-responsive materials for smart personal protective equipment” on flexible actuators in Materials Science and Engineering: R: Reports, a journal with a very high impact factor.

Developing intelligent wearable systems - ITC’s textiles join force with microelectronics

Prof. Xiaoming Tao was invited to give a talk at the Microelectronics Technology Forum and attended the Inauguration Ceremony of Semiconductor Nanotechnology Alliance on 5 August.

Dr Dahua Shou award recipient at 6th International Invention Competition in Canada

The awarding winning project "Sweatextile: A Sweatable Textile for High Comfort and Protection" is a promise of excellent thermal and moisture comfort, is suitable for a wide range of consumers such as outdoor enthusiasts.

ITC Alumni Networking Series

Hosted by Prof. Jintu Fan, Head and Chair Professor of ITC, the first Alumni Networking Series was given on 30 September. A webinar "Fashion Technology Adaptions – Past, Present and Future of the Supply Chain" followed, with three alumni as panelists.

Visit of advisory committee members & members of election committee – textiles and garment sub-sector

The 51st meeting of the Advisory Committee on Textile and Clothing Industries took place on 7 October under the chairmanship of Ms Shirley Chan, Vice Chairman of YGM Trading Ltd.

Dean's Distinguished Industry Lecture Series

The lecture titled "“Green & Low-Carbon Circular Economic Development Goals & Researches according to 14th Five-Year Plan", was given by Dr Raymond Chu, Chairman of The Hong Kong General Chamber of Textile and Chairman of Chemtax Industrial Co., Ltd. on 12 October.

Historic proposal to establish ITC as School of Fashion and Textiles

ITC is proposing to the Central Management of PolyU to establish ITC as a School of Fashion and Textiles separate from the Faculty of Applied Science and Textiles. Consultations with staff and students, alumni as well as industry partners were conducted earlier.

New channel for fashion lovers – Fashion Talks

To provide more about the latest in the fashion industry, ITC is excited to announce the launch of a new video channel called Fashion Talks. The first episode features three local fashion insiders about their must-have items in the coming season.

ITC contributes to legacy of the cheongsam

The “Hong Kong Cheongsam Making Technique” was added to the “National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage” in 2021. ITC is honoured to organise the first-ever seminar "Deconstructing Male and Female Cheongsam: Aesthetics and Craftsmanship”.
